In this new era of Common Core State Standards, it is essential to address acadmic rigor for English learners across the curriculum.
The Scaffolds for Supporting English Learners within the Common Core State Standards has been developed to help teachers engage their students in oral language and thinking skills which span the stages of language proficiency as well as a range in levels of critical thinking. This tool may provide a foundation for creating and developing oral and written language lesson components to support student production of academic disourse and language across the content areas.
