Department of Education
The Governance, Leadership & Community Partnerships Division provides services and support for students, families, educators and community members. The division's mission is to maintain, develop and nurture professional partnerships with the business community, school districts, charter schools, higher education, local/state/federal government, non-profits and faith-based organizations, improving the quality of education and opportunities available for all students. The division promotes engagement that supports leadership, governance and accountability in an effort to prepare all students with 21st century competencies and ensure college and career readiness.
The Charter Schools Unit reviews charter school petitions submitted to the Orange County Board of Education (OCBE) and coordinates the monitoring and oversight of charter schools authorized by OCBE. The Charter Schools Unit also provides general information and technical assistance to charter schools and the educational community to ensure fidelity and accountability leads to success for charter school students and families.
In addition, the division provides administrative support to OCBE and to the Orange County School Boards Association (OCSBA).
