The Orange County Child Care and Development Planning Council is established to fulfill the mandates established by
California Education Code section 8449.5: to conduct an assessment of child care
needs in the county once every five years. This
Needs Assessment Report describes the overall need for child care
spaces for children ages birth through twelve in Orange County.
The Council's Child Care Strategic Plan establishes goals address
the county's comprehensive child care needs. Current work of the Council includes:
- Strategic planning and evaluation
- Workforce development
- Inclusion of children with special needs
Council members are appointed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors and Orange County Superintendent of Schools.
