Language Services Professional Learning Opportunities

Learning Opportunities for INTERPRETERS/TRANSLATORS 

Language Services is offering a series of trainings focused on developing skills needed to interpret/translate at various educational settings. Freelance professionals, Paraprofessionals, School and District Interpreters from various languages are welcome to attend. Unless otherwise noted, all trainings is located at Orange County Department of Education in Costa Mesa, CA.

We can customized any training to adjust to your district's needs. 

Interpreters' Trainings Flyer 2016-2017

Attendees will explore Culture, Value, and Beliefs by learning:

  • Techniques to become a better Interpreter/Translator
  • Protocols during interpretations
  • Types of meetings

Practitioners Tips Flyer 2016-2017

Interpreters/translators will be able to share strategies for:

  • Simplifying translations
  • Conveying clear and concise messages
  • Improving the quality of translations
  • Successfully supporting unique scenarios
  • Translating the untranslatable
 Participants will:
  • Acquire Special Education basic concepts
  • Explore the needs of English learners with disabilities
  • Experience protocols when translating for Special Education requests
  • Understand legal implications and federal guidelines
  • ​Learn about available resources
