CA State Standards

The CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy were adopted by the SBE on August 2, 2010.​​



The CA ELD Standards were adopted by the SBE in 2012. They are unique in that they correspond with the rigorous CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy.


The Model School Library Standards were adopted by SBE in  2010. These standards address information literacy skills.


This website contains the standards as well as parent brochures in Spanish and English for all content ares.


Resources to support teaching of the CA State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts (ELA).


The 2014 ELA/ELD Framework has been developed to support and incorporate the California Common Core State Standards for CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy and the CA ELD Standards. The SBE (California State Board of Education) adopted the ELA/ELD Framework on July 9, 2014. Whole Document​, by Chapter​.

The California Department of Education released the California Dyslexia Guidelines, which was written in responde to the passage of Assembly Bill 1369, and which added sections 56334 and 56335 to California's Education Code.

This resource provides a half-page reference sheet for each ELA Common Core Standard. Essential skills and concepts, academic vocabulary, and question stems relevant to the standards are noted.
