Literacy & Language Network
Begins August 3, 2021

OCDE now offers a Literacy and Language Network designed to provide a space for collaboration around current and emerging topics in literacy instruction. We will meet virtually the first Tuesday of the month from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. from August to June.

Diversifying Our Texts: More Stories, Broader Views and Greater Understanding
Cohort 1 begins September 30, 2021
Cohort 2 begins January 27, 2022


​This three-part series will support K-12 teachers, coaches, administrators, librarians, and library/media techs in understanding the idea that books can be Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors for students.

ERWC 3.0 Update
Fall Cohort begins September 13, 2021

​ERWC has been through changes in the past couple of years. Version 3.0 is now available and offers support for English language learners. If you would like to learn about ERWC 3.0, OCDE and CSU Fullerton are offering an online update course. As a certified ERWC teacher, this update course is available to you at no cost.  The course is two weeks long with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work.

This professional development training will help teachers prepare students to meet college and university expectations, the standards of the CSU English Placement Test, and the CA State Standards. The University of California has approved the ERWC for area "b" credit (from "a-g" requirements) and the course meets college preparatory requirements for both UC and CSU.

Coaching for Excellence
Cohort 1 begins September 2, 2021
Cohort 2 begins February 3, 2022

​Through hands-on, real-life, and self-reflective activities, coaches will learn how to be an effective, transformative, and impactful instructional leader. Whether new to the role of a coach or with many years of experience, these sessions will build on existing skill sets. Participants will learn about the role of a coach, the day-to-day work of a coach, and will have the opportunity to refine their coaching skills to suit their individual coaching assignment.
