​This three part series will support K-12 teachers, Coaches, and Administrators, Librarians, and Library/Media Techs in understanding the idea that books can be Mirrors, Windows and Sliding Glass Doors for students. This course will ground participants in the work of Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, whose scholarly contributions serve as the foundation for acknowledging the need for diverse books, stories and literature in our world.

​OCDE now offers a Literacy and Language Network designed to provide a space for collaboration around current and emerging topics in literacy instruction. The Literacy and Language Network will meet virtually the last Thursday of the month from 10:00am-11:30am from January to May.

ERWC 3.0 Update
Spring Cohort begins April 19, 2021

ERWC has been through changes in the past couple of years. Version 3.0 is now available and offers support for English language learners. If you would like to learn about ERWC 3.0, OCDE and CSU Fullerton are offering an online update course. As a certified ERWC teacher, this update course is available to you at no cost.  The course is two weeks long with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work. 

Engaging Language Learners @ a Distance: Customized Professional Learning Series (Cohort C)

Four-Module Series with Synchronous Session held: March 15 and 29 and May 6 and 29, 2021 

​Research shows that being multilingual can improve brainpower and increase cross-cultural competence. Join two of the authors of the CA World Languages Framework to gain an understanding of this guidance document and to develop, implement, and support research-based and proficiency-oriented instruction. The four-module professional learning series is designed for K-12 Dual and World language educators.

This professional development training will help teachers prepare students to meet college and university expectations, the standards of the CSU English Placement Test, and the CA State Standards. The University of California has approved the ERWC for area "b" credit (from "a-g" requirements) and the course meets college preparatory requirements for both UC and CSU.
