Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. These goals are achieved by participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.
· To accommodate distance learning, all Regional Tournaments and the State Tournament in Southern California this year will follow the Mini Science Olympiad model where students compete from home.
· OCDE & SoCal SciOly understand the financial burdens that the current ongoing pandemic has placed on our Orange County schools and districts. The State board voted to reduce registration costs to $260/team. Additionally, OCDE has elected to further reduce registration rates an additional $20/team for a total of $240/team. You can access this discount using discount code OC2021. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the OCDE team for clarification.
· To accommodate more students who will not be able to participate in their normal extracurricular activities, we have removed the limit on the number of teams per school that can participate at our tournament.
The 2020-2021 Official rules are now available for free at http://store.soinc.org/. We will be announcing the events for our tournaments after reviewing the alternate events recommended by the National Science Olympiad.
