Join Inside the Outdoors
for Summer Day Camp 2025!
Inside the Outdoors, administered by the Orange County Department of Education, is excited to return with our popular Summer Day Camp at Shipley Nature Center in lovely Huntington Beach, California.
Camp Hours: 9:00 am* to 2:00 pm**
*Drop off starts at 8:30 am for all weeks.
**Extended Camp available from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for an additional fee of $80.
Experience unique activities that incorporate science, fun, learning, and being outdoors. Summer Day Camp is geared toward campers age 6 to 12 years old, with leadership and camp opportunities for campers age 13-17. Each week of summer camp will have themed daily activities that are science/nature based that also include a daily nature journal prompt and a take-home craft.

- June 23 - 27, 2025: Naturalist Academy - $290 per camper
- July 7 - 11, 2025: Crittertopia! - $290 per camper
- July 14 - 18, 2025: Hike Through the Galaxy - $290 per camper
- July 21 - 25, 2025: Adventures in the Wild - $290 per camper
- July 28 - August 1, 2025: Eco Explorers - $290 per camper

Behavior standards apply to all campers/participants.
Summer Day Camp is an outdoor experience using Shipley Nature Center and Huntington Beach Central Park.
Students with special needs are welcome with their aides (aides or one-on-one care is not provided by program). One-on-one aides who accompany children are responsible for supervision, restroom assistance and ALL the individual care services the child may require throughout the program.
Extended Camp is only available to campers that particpate during regulart camp hours (no exceptions).

Naturalist Academy
| This wild week will transform your summer camper into a Field Naturalist! Through games, songs, science, and outdoor adventures, explorers will develop the skills of an ultimate camper—leaving nothing but footprints and taking nothing but memories

Crittertopia!
| Furry, scaly, or slimy—discover the wonders of the animal kingdom through crafts, games, and outdoor adventures! Campers will meet live animals, explore wildlife on hikes, and compete in the exciting Animal Olympics!

Hike Through the Galaxy
| Blast off into an out-of-this-world adventure as we journey through the galaxy together! Young astronauts will explore the cosmos with space-themed games, stellar songs, and interplanetary crafts. Join us for an unforgettable week of fun, discovery, and reaching for the stars!

Adventures in the Wild
| Embark on a thrilling adventure! Young explorers will master the use of maps, compasses, and natural signs to navigate while discovering the wonders of the great outdoors. Each day is packed with hands-on fun, teamwork, and exciting discoveries!

Eco Explorers
| Welcome, Wilderness Watchers! Campers will uncover the secrets of the wild while discovering ways to protect it for future generations. Join us for unforgettable adventures that spark curiosity, inspire stewardship, and create lasting memories in the great outdoors!

Sample Schedule9:00 am - Camp songs/skits as a whole group.
9:30am - 11:30 am - Camp activities in small groups.
11:30 am - Lunch (bring your own lunch each day) and Garbology
12:00 pm - Afternoon games and choose-your-own-adventure activities with camp staff.
