Virtual Summer Camp

Two girls at Summer Camp Crafts Photo Credit wheninhuntington.com​Join Inside the Outdoors for Virtual Summer Camp! Experience unique activities that incorporate science, fun, and learning.  Virtual Summer Camp is geared toward campers age 6 to 12 years old.

Each week of virtual summer camp will have themed daily activities that are science/nature based that also include a daily nature journal prompt, family extension activities, kindness activity, get moving activity and virtual sharing of ideas with fellow campers.  Live interaction opportunities will start each day to excite and introduce the daily theme and an afternoon check-in will bring fun surprises and even special guests.

Register by June 30, 2020 and receive a personalized tree cookie and NSI Backyard Missions.  All registrations received after June 30 will receive electronic versions of materials, but will not receive a tree cookie and hard copies of the NSI Backyard Missions.

Sample Schedule

10:00 am - Morning Introduction via Video Call, which will include overview of activities, songs, and possible guests.  A portion of this call may be recorded for those who can't attend live.

10:30 am - 12:00 pm - Participate in camp activities at your own pace

12:00 pm - Afternoon Meet and Greet with Animals/Hike and camper check in.  A portion of this call may be recorded for those who can't attend live.

After 12:30 pm - Finish camp activities and Family Extension Activities 

Description of Activities

  • Nature Journals - Campers will be given ideas on ways to make their own journals and each day will have art and writing prompts to add to their journals.
  • Kindness Activity - This activity will help student spread kindness to their families, friends or neighborhood each day.
  • Get Moving - An activity to get your body moving and outside if possible.
  • Daily Craft or Experiment - These will vary depending on the theme.
  • Share Animal Ambassador Photos - Take your animal ambassador cutout on adventures in your neighborhood and take photos to share with other campers.
  • Opportunities to Share - Through virtual platforms, you can share drawing, crafts, and experiments with other campers.

Materials List will be sent out prior to camp so you can plan for all of the activities.  Most materials will be low cost can many will be items you can find around your house.

​Amazing Animals​Mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and arthropods!  This week is all about learning, exploring, and even meeting, animals.
​Save the Earth​Let’s go green and have fun learning ways to save the Earth.
​Nature Neighbors​Let’s explore our neighborhoods and local parks and get to know our nature neighbors!
​Full STEAM Ahead​Explore the areas where STEM and art meet through fun experiments and crafts.
