Pollinators By Design - 2nd Grade

In this exciting Traveling Scientist program, second-grade students will explore the fascinating world of pollination! They’ll investigate how animals and plants work together to make pollination possible. Students will work together to observe photos of pollinators and plant pollen to identify key characteristics that help pollinators carry the pollen. Students will then, work in teams to test different tools for collecting and transferring pollen. Finally, students will get creative, designing tools that could help scientists hand-pollinate plants in space! This engaging program shows how pollinators are essential to our food supply and sparks curiosity about science and innovation.
Amazing Animals - Habitats - 2nd Grade
NGSS PE Supported: 2-LS4-1
Second-grade students will embark on a global adventure to discover how animals and plants thrive in different habitats! They’ll explore eight unique habitats have distinct characteristics, such as the amount of food, sun and water avaialble. Students will match animals and plants to their needs and learn how each habitat supports life in its own way. Students will meet live animal ambassadors and predict which habitat each one might live in based on its adaptations. To wrap up, they'll reflect on simple actions they can take to protect these habitats. This hands-on experience teaches students about the incredible diversity of life and the importance of conservation!
