Introduction to Restorative Practices & Using Circles Effectively
THIS COURSE IS A PREREQUISITE FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN IIRP TRAINER OF TRAINERS
Restorative Practices are a continuum of informal and formal strategies designed to develop community in schools and foster healthy relationships. As a prevention and intervention approach to discipline, restorative practices provide an alternative to suspension and can be integrated into a school’s multi-tiered system of support. Participants will learn practical strategies for facilitating circles which build strong, healthy relationships and community in the classroom and across the school campus. Participants will discover how and when to optimally utilize circles to support universal (classroom) and supplemental (small group) needs for community building, social-emotional development, problem solving and academics.
