Drip Drop - 4th Grade
Standards Supported: HSS 4.4.4 and HSS 4.4.7
Through discussion and hands-on activities, students will learn about the key role water plays in California’s history including the growth and expansion of towns and cities. Students will also collaborate with one another as they use maps and historical artifacts to move through the timeline of California's water resources and infrastructure.
Project Zero Waste - Service Learning - 4th Grade
NGSS Standards Supported: K-ESS3-3, 3-LS4-4, 5-ESS3-1, MS-ESS3-3, MS-ESS3-4, HS-ESS3-4
Over 68 billion pounds of trash are produced in California each year! Students learn the ins and outs of local waste management and practice the behaviors needed to help California achieve its goal of a 75% reduction in waste by 2025. Orange County is a leader in the state for waste reduction and our students are key players in OC's sustainable future.
Amazing Animals - Sensory Superpowers - 4th Grade
NGSS Standards Supported: 4-LS1.A
Students will get to meet animal ambassadors for a hands-on
science lesson, learning how animals use their external structures
that help them to survive. Students will discover unique sensory
structures for five different groups of animals.
Renewable Energy Education - 4th Grade (by invitation only)
NGSS standards supported: 4-PS3-4
Anaheim is dedicated to increasing the use of renewable energy sources, including solar power. Students will explore the physical science principles at play in electrical energy generation through turbines to solar cells. Students will calculate the GHG emission reduction renewable energy can have from local efforts as their community members partner with the city of Anaheim to embrace solar and other renewable energy sources.
