Community of PracticeNow in its second year, the Orange County Department of Education’s History-Social Science Community of Practice (CoP) brings together leaders and teachers to consider the implementation of the 2016 History-Social Science Framework. This year’s CoP will continue its focus on inquiry with an in-depth focus on content understanding, literacy and historical/critical thinking, see the attached flyer for further information.
FAIR
Education Act: Implications on Classroom Culture and Practice (Two-Days, $100)

The
Orange County Department of Education is proud to present the Fair Education
Act: Implications on Classroom Culture and Practice. The purpose of this
professional learning is to understand how to make the classroom a Safe
Space for all students.
The
secondary opportunity is focused on United States History content for grades 8,
11 and 12, and is a best fit for United States history teachers. See the
attached flyer for further information.
The
elementary opportunity is a best fit for grades K-5 and will include lists of
picture books with inclusive content at each grade level. See the

Community of Practice (Four-Days, FREE)
December 3, 2019 (NEW TO COHORT ONLY), January 28, 2020,
February 25, 2020, and March 5, 2020
Now in
its second year, the Orange County Department of Education’s History-Social
Science Community of Practice (CoP) brings together leaders and teachers

This year’s CoP will continue its emphasis on inquiry with an in-depth focus on
content understanding, literacy, historical/critical thinking and assessment. The content
focus will be environmental literacy and fits nicely into History/Social
Science Course K-12. The opportunity is a best fit for History/Social
Science teacher leaders, in formal or informal positions, at the elementary and

Civic Learning Boot Camp (One-Day, $100)
The
purpose of this professional learning is to understand how to earn a Civic
Learning Award. The opportunity is a best fit for K-12 History/Social
Science teachers who implement a research project that they would like to
refine. See the attached flyer for further information.
