The Orange County Committee on School District Organization (County Committee) consists of eleven members: two representatives from each supervisorial district and one member at large. School or community college district board members who are otherwise eligible may be members of the County Committee. Members need not be current or prior school board members. Neither the County Superintendent of Schools, nor their staff, nor any employee of a school or community college district, can serve as a County Committee member.  The term of office is four years. (Education Code §4006-4009)

 

 

The Orange County Committee on School District Organization​ (County Committee) members are elected by the Nominating Committee. 

The Nominating Committee is made up of 32 representatives from the 28 school districts and 4 community college districts boards in Orange County. The members of the Nominating Committee are appointed by their respective Boards at their districts annual organizational meeting (held in December of each year) (Education Code §43143(a) & §​72000(C)(2)(A)). 

County Committee seats with terms that expire are presented to the Nominating Committee through a nominating process to request candidate statments of qualification, typically takes place from July through October. Committee Members are elected according to the voting process in the Bylaws of the Orange County Committee on School District Organization. Voting requires to recieve a quorum of ballots ​by either an absentee ballot or​ an in-person ballot at annual meeting held before the joint OCSBA/ACSA meeting, between October 1 and December 1 (Education Code §4005(a))​.
