OCDE’s School for Learning and Leadership helps educators advance their careers through credentialing programs designed for working adults and grounded in experiential learning. We offer Preliminary and Clear Administrative Services Credential programs, the Classified Employee Grant program, Teacher Induction, and, in the near future, an intern teacher preparation program for individuals pursuing credentials as Education Specialists or Single Subject STEM teachers. SLL also partners with districts and charter schools to invest in their workforce and strengthen leadership pipelines through customizable cohorts.

Classified Employee Grant

The Classified Employee Grant (CEG), awarded by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing in 2022 to a five-county consortium including OCDE, provides financial and academic support to classified employees pursuing teaching credentials. Aimed at addressing California’s teacher shortage in STEM, special education, bilingual education, and transitional kindergarten, participants receive up to $3,500 annually, mentorship from an Educational Advisor, and access to online resources to prepare for required credentialing exams and assessments.

Clear Administrative Services Credential Program (CASC)

OCDE’s Clear Administrative Services Credential (CASC) Program is a two-year, state-approved program designed for current administrators who have completed their Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC). Through individualized coaching and practical experience, participants strengthen their leadership skills in vision-setting, school culture, strategic management, community engagement, ethical leadership, and policy advocacy. The program equips candidates to master the School for Learning and Leadership’s eight core competencies, preparing them for advanced educational leadership roles.

Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program (PASC)

Advance your career in education with the School for Learning and Leadership’s Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) program, where you’ll build a strong foundation in educational leadership through the California Administrator Performance Expectations (CAPEs). This program equips aspiring administrators with practical experience and key competencies in vision, instruction, equity, community engagement, and policy advocacy.

Teacher Induction

The OCDE Clear Credential Induction Program is a CTC-approved, two-year pathway designed to help new teachers earn their California Clear Multiple or Single Subject Credential while receiving meaningful, job-embedded support. Participants collaborate with an experienced mentor, apply the California Standards for the Teaching Profession in their classrooms, and engage in reflective practice and professional development. Upon successful completion, candidates may earn up to 12 university units and receive a recommendation for their Clear California Teaching Credential.
