Mental Health Awareness Activities

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) will be partnering with student clubs and leadership groups to design and implement mental health awareness activities during the 2020-2021 school year.

OCDE will provide the following to all participating schools (at no cost):

  • Mental Health 101 workshop for student groups

  • Activity ideas and online resources

  • Promotional themed items (such as vinyl stickers and stress balls)

  • T-shirts for students involved in conducting the mental health promotion activities on their campus

  • Technical assistance for planning and implementing the activity or event

To participate, a minimum of ten students must be involved in the planning and implementation of the awareness activity or event that intends to reach a wide audience on your school campus. In addition, school administration should support the activity, as well as the dissemination of a participant survey following the activity or event.

All participating schools will be asked to submit a brief report on the outcomes from their activity. Additionally, the student group and audience participating in the mental health awareness event (student population, school staff, or parents/caregivers when applicable) will be asked to complete a short survey following the activity or event.
