Bullying Prevention

The Orange County Department of Education provides student workshops and shares resources to support schools with their bullying prevention efforts​.​

Student Workshops

The following workshops are available at no cost to Orange County schools. To schedule, contact Deirdre Hill, Program Specialist, at 714-966-4342 or dhill@ocde.us.

I’ve Got Your Back - Bullying Prevention Workshop: This middle school workshop is designed to empower student leaders to become upstanders by teaching them what bullying is, the effects of bullying, and what they can do to stand up, speak out, and spread support. Participants will discuss possible issues of bullying they see on campus and how their leadership group or club can take action to prevent bullying. The workshop is two hours in length and can be conducted over two class periods if necessary. Click here​ to view the workshop flier.

Peaceful Conflict Resolution Workshop: This middle and high school workshop builds skills in the areas of positive conflict resolution, self-awareness, self-management, communication, critical thinking, responsible decision-making, and social awareness. The workshop is 90 minutes in length and can be conducted over two class periods if necessary. Click here​ to view the workshop flier.

Anti-Defamation League (ADL): Provides educational programs and resources to foster inclusive learning environments. 

Center for Disease Control and Prevention: Provides general information about bullying, including definitions, statistics, warning signs, outcomes, prevention and resources. 

CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning): Vast online resource to guide the advancement of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). 

Common Sense Education: Provides resources for families and educators, including Digital Well-Being Lessons for Grades K–12.

Good For Media: Initiative from the Stanford Center for Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing that provides resources and support for helping youth to practice healthier ways of engaging with media.​

Groundswell: Orange County based agency that provides school-based programs and youth leadership opportunities that support creating a positive school climate. 

PAL® Peer Assistance Leadership: The Orange County Department of Education offers schools training and support to implement the PAL® Peer Assistance Leadership program. PAL is a school-based, peer-to-peer youth development program for students in grades 4-12 built upon a philosophy of students helping students. The mission of our PAL program is to ​develop youth leaders who connect with their peers to create a caring, safe, and supportive school environment for all. 

Random Acts of Kindness Foundation: Provides pre-kindergarten through high school curriculum focused on social emotional learning, including lessons about digital citizenship and kindness. 

StopBullying.gov: Provides general information about bullying and cyberbullying, including definitions, warning signs, roles kids play, effects, bullying and trauma, prevention, resources, and how to get help.
