The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is an approved Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Program Sponsor for the Designated Subjects (DS) CTE Credential. The program evaluates CTE credential applications and makes credential recommendations to the CTC as well as provides a series of sequenced coursework that prepares new CTE candidates to become effective teachers.
The Preliminary CTE Credential is issued by the CTC for three years and authorizes the CTE candidate to teach one or more subjects in the industry sector named on the credential in grades twelve and below and in classes organized primarily for adults in career technical, trade or vocational courses. Your employing school district must determine, based on your work and educational experiences, which particular subjects you may teach within the industry sector.
