What are Restorative Practices?
Restorative Practices is rooted proactively in building community through effective and healthy communication and strengthening positive relationships. In turn, we can respond to challenging behaviors through authentic dialogue, coming to an understanding and opportunities to make things right. Through the Restorative Practices Continuum, we are able to create respectful classrooms, manage conflicts, establish routines and expectations for positive student behavior. Restorative Practices strengthens positive school culture, trusted partnerships and engagement.
How do Restorative Practices and CA MTSS Align?
Restorative Practices is integrated seamlessly into the MTSS framework. Within a Continuum of Support, Restorative Practices moves us through informal to formal practices used proactively to provide opportunities for students to make positive choices, strengthen academic success and ensure accountability. The Restorative Practices Continuum helps us shift the discipline paradigm from reactive to restoratively proactive.
