Good health is essential for successful student achievement.  Linking students with the Medi-Cal program positively impacts their education and their attitude.  The state of a child's physical and mental health can improve school performance by:

• Increased attendance
• Increased concentration levels in the classroom
• Expanded ability to participate in extracurricular activities

School-Based Medi-Cal Administrative Activities

School districts are connecting children and families to health services provided by Medi-Cal.  SMAA can reimburse a portion of the related costs. 

Local Educational Consortium (LEC)

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) began administering Region 9 LEC for SMAA in 1999.  The OCDE serves educational agencies in Orange, San Diego, and Imperial coun​ties.
