Analee Kredel
Chief of Special Education Services
It is the goal of the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Special Schools Program to provide the most meaningful educational program designed to meet each student’s individual needs. This goal emphasizes the teaching of skills aligned with California state standards and are critical to the present and future needs of our students.
The OCDE Special Schools Programs operates 48 classes on 13 different school sites throughout Orange County. Students are referred to our programs from their district of residence. Educational programs are provided to meet the needs of the following types of students:
• Students with the most significant disabilities
• Students with emotional disturbance disabilities
• Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
All of our programs offer a low student-to-staff ratio in structured classroom settings. Our programs provide access to state standards with curriculum that is designed to meet the unique needs of our students. In addition, emphasis is placed on addressing the emotional and behavioral needs of our students. Many of our programs also provide opportunities for community-based instruction and vocational training for the students.
It is my pleasure to continue to support our programs, students and families.
