On behalf of the Orange County Robotics Consortium (OCRC) Planning Team:
We hope you and your loved ones are doing well and staying healthy during these challenging times. Our thoughts are with all of you as you continue to work tirelessly to support the needs of our educational communities.
Like many of you, the OCDE staff is experiencing the impact of this recent COVID-19 surge. As a result, we need to adjust the timing of some of our initiatives, including this competition, so that we can support our schools as substitute teachers in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, I'm writing today to announce that the OCRC VEX IQ "Pitching In" Robotics Competition scheduled for Saturday, February 5, 2022, needs to be cancelled.
We understand how important the OCRC VEX IQ "Pitching In" Robotics Competition is, and we appreciate your efforts at fundraising and engaging your teams from the build process to developing their driving skills. We're working diligently to be able to continue to provide you with opportunities to compete. To that end, we'd like to honor your efforts by hosting a Virtual OCRC VEX IQ Competition and Showcase this Spring once we've moved past the surge impacting so many of us, Date TBD.
In the meantime, you'll notice your team will be placed on the “Waitlist" within Robot Events. For teams that have already paid competition fees, we'll work with our accounting department to issue a refund for competition fees.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact Omar Shepherd via email at: oshepherd@ocde.us
Sincerely,
Orange County Robotics Consortium (OCRC) Planning Team
