Project Based Learning (PBL)

What is PBL?

In Project Based Learning (PBL), students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem, or challenge.  Rigorous projects help students learn key academic content and practice 21st Century Skills (such as collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity).

OCDE Project-Based Learning Series

This four-day day OCDE PBL workshop includes three consecutive days of hands-on learning to develop a PBL project. A fourth day follow-up during the implementation process provides timely support to assist participants in reflecting on student work and adapting their practices. Participants will learn the essential components of project-based learning and how to integrate them into an engaging, standards-based project that promotes 21st century skills. Through a combination of direct instruction, video analysis and peer-to-peer collaboration, participants will plan, design and receive critical feedback to create authentic, standards-based projects that challenge students to tackle real-world problems.
