School counselors ensure equity and access by ensuring that all students have access to a rigorous course of study that includes career pathways as well as enrichment programs and extra-curricular opportunities. Providing access to a comprehensive Tier 1 curriculum for all students is the most crucial step to ensuring all students are informed of opportunities available to them. Analyzing student group data across course enrollment patterns, student engagement, family engagement, and post-secondary enrollment affords school counselors opportunities to implement Tier 2 supports and to advocate for systemic change when necessary.
