District Unemployment Insurance Services provides unemployment insurance claims management services to Orange County school districts, community colleges, regional occupational programs (ROP), and other special districts under a contractual relationship with the Employment Development Department (EDD) and the California Chancellor of Community Colleges.
Unemployment insurance benefits for employees of school districts, community colleges, ROPs, and other education agencies are paid from a separate risk pool managed by the EDD called the
School Employers Fund (SEF). The SEF is funded through contributions from school employers and quarterly experience charges.
