Volunteer Information

Orange County Academic Decathlon (OCAD) needs your support.

Do you want to help hard-working and dedicated students achieve their scholastic goals? Do you want to utilize your personal and professional skills in a fast-paced and engaging volunteer opportunity?

This premiere academic competition for high school students relies heavily on community members volunteering their time, professionalism, and care to serve as judges and proctors for its event season.

Volunteer Information about the 2022 Orange County Academic Decathlon will be posted here in Septermber 2021.

Volunteer role descriptions:

Interview Judge - As an Interview Judge, you will be placed on a team with two to three other community members to interview students (similar to a job interview) and evaluate their answers using the guidelines and scoring forms provided. All judges will attend a brief orientation in the 1-2 weeks leading up to the event.

Speech Judge - As a Speech Judge, you will be placed on a team with two to three other community members to listen to students present speeches and evaluate them using guidelines and scoring forms provided.  All judges will attend a brief orientation in the 1-2 weeks leading up to the event.

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.

It is very important that all volunteers arrive promptly on competition day. If a volunteer becomes unavailable, it is critical that OCAD staff be contacted to avoid incomplete judging teams. A missing volunteer can delay the start of the competition.
