2024 Contest Information

​2024 NHD-OC INTERVIEW SCHEDULE AND ENTRY NUMBERS​

  • ​All entries should bring 3 copies of their written materials to their interview (exhibit and poster students will leave their written materials with their project).  Written materials should include their entry number and word count on their title page.  See the rule book & contest guide​ for more information. ​​
  • The contest will be held at the Orange County Department of Education - 200 Kalmus Dr. Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Parking is available in the front lot and on the street. Please do not park at the local businesses. Doors will open Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 8:00 am. 
  • All students should find out from their coaches if they have a meeting time and place at the contest. Students do not need to check in with NHD-OC on the day of their interview. Coaches will distribute contest materials prior to the contest. 
  • For those who wish to purchase lunch an In and Out food truck will be on-site. You can purchase lunch tickets at the NHD-OC store (cash only).  Contest swag will be available for purchase. 
  • School teams and families are encouraged to set up "camp" in the courtyard. Chairs and EZ-ups are allowed. Check with your coach for your campsite location. BRING YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT! 
  • All students are encouraged to attend finalist announcements and elementary awards on TBD in the courtyard. 
Pre-judging Categories (Podcast, Paper, Website, and Documentary) are due TBD Late entries may be considered during ranking.  Follow the submissions and naming conventions for your entry. 
Exhibit and poster students will need to set up their project onTBD
Performance Students should bring their props and written materials to the outside door of their contest room 15 - 20 minutes prior to their scheduled interview time. We do not have prop storage on site.  

  • All students should arrive at their contest room 15 - 20 minutes prior to their scheduled time. All competing students should wear their lanyard and name badge while on campus (contest materials will be distributed by the coaches prior to the contest.)
