Spotlight Award 2026
Orange County School of the Arts student Aarav Putrevu received the Spotlight Award at the NHD-OC Awards Ceremony on March 18, 2026. Orange County Council for Gifted and Talented Education sponsors the Spotlight Award for 12th-grade students who demonstrate academic excellence, outstanding leadership, persistence, and strong care and concern for others.
2026 NHD-CA Results
After months of intensive research and success at district and county-level competitions, champions were recognized at the 2026 National History Day - CA State Contest. Entries will represent Orange County at the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland in June 2026.

MARYLAND - June 18, 2026 - Four California entries receive top honors at the 52nd Annual National History Day Contest held at the University of Maryland College Park Campus in the Washington, D.C. area June 14-18. In addition, twelve California entries were named finalists.
Nearly 3,000 students from across the United States and overseas participated in the contest. $150,000 in scholarships are awarded at the awards ceremony, and approximately 100 students took home cash prizes between $250 and $5,000 for superior work in a particular category of judging.
