Spotlight  Award 2025

University High School student Zhijie (Eric) Yang received the Spotlight Award at the NHD-OC Awards Ceremony on March 12, 2025. OCC GATE sponsors the Spotlight Award for 12th-grade students who demonstrate academic excellence, outstanding leadership, persistence, and strong care and concern for others. ​

2025​ NHD-CA Results

After months of intensive research and success at district and county-level competitions, champions were recognized at the 2025 National History Day - CA State Contest. Entries will represent Orange County at the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland in June 2025​.

​NHD welcomed 2,895 students from 870 schools and 1,048 of their teachers to College Park, Maryland to celebrate their hard work to produce outstanding projects related to Rights and Responsibilities in History. The contest was a tremendous success, marked by an increase in press coverage that led to features in The New York Times and PBS NewsHour. We're excited to share the attached Impact Newsletter with our stakeholders as we celebrate the success of this year's contest. You can also view the newsletter online via this link.
