A charter school petitioner whose petition has been denied by a local school district may appeal the decision to the Orange County Board of Education (OCBE) in accordance with California Education Code.

The Charter Schools Unit coordinates the appeal review process on behalf of the Orange County Board of Education by reviewing appeal submissions, evaluating the petition and supporting documentation, and providing findings and recommendations to assist the Board in its consideration of the appeal.
